Joanne Cara Deakins (born 20 November 1972 in Worcester, Worcestershire) is a retired female backstroke swimmer from Great Britain, who represented the United Kingdom at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in Barcelona, Spain (1992). She is best known for winning the bronze medal in the women's 200 m backstroke event at the 1995 Summer Universiade in Fukuoka, Japan. The backstroke, also sometimes called the back crawl, is one of the four swimming styles regulated by FINA, and the only regulated style swum on the back.show more
