James Robert Snyder (born August 15, 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan) was a backup second baseman for the Minnesota Twins from 1961 to 1964. After his playing days, he became a coach, and in the 1988 season, he became the interim manager for the Seattle Mariners when Dick Williams was fired after 56 games. He finished the year 45-60, and the Mariners finished last in the American League West. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond.show more
