Christine Harris is the author of many varied and popular books for young people. She has written picture books for younger readers, science fiction, fantasy, horror, humour and drama. Her books have been translated into French and Italian. Her previous book with Puffin, Jamil's Shadow, tells the heart-warming story of an orphan boy caught in a devastating earthquake in Turkey. Jamil's Shadow was shortlisted for the 2002 Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award (Younger Readers). Other shortlisted books include Foreign Devil, which won the 1999 Aurealis Award for best horror novel.
