Jackets for Real People : Tailoring Made Easy!
In this demonstrational video, Marta Alto emphasizes basic techniques as she sews a lapel-style jacket with double-welt pockets, vented sleeves, sleeve heads, and a lining. Divided into separate segments, the DVD allows the viewer to stop, complete a set of instructions, and then continue. Additional tips cover patterns and fabrics, proper cutting and marking, pressing and seam finishing, and how-tos that ensure a perfect fit.

Marta Alto is a teacher, writer, and researcher at Palmer/Pletsch and the coauthor of The Serger Idea Book and Sewing Ultrasuede. Pati Palmer is the CEO of Palmer/Pletsch Publishing and a designer and consultant for the McCall Pattern Company. She is the coauthor of Sewing with Sergers. Alto and Palmer are the coauthors of Fit for Real People and Pants for Real People. They both live in Portland, Oregon.
