Five children (ages 5-13) wash ashore on an island in Lake Michigan and must learn to survive on their own as winter approaches. They are orphans and foster children who have run away, only to find themselves with no supplies on an uninhabited island in Michigan's ungraceous weather. Only eleven-year-old Karen knows God, but her faith encourages the other four to continue trying to survive and mold themselves into a family. Their prayer is that no one will ever find them and take them back.
