The first of Corinthians, vi. 111 is another instance: ' But ye were sanctified,1 but ye were justified,2 in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.' This passage contains four parts: --1. Ye were sanctified. 2. Ye were justified. 3 In the name of the Lord Jesus. 4. By the Spirit of our God. Of these four parts the first and fourth accord, and the second and third, thus: --Ye were sanctified by the Spirit of our God. Ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus. Philemon, 5th verse, is also another instance: 'Hearing of thy love and faith which thou hast toward the Lord 'nytirinn, I aor. pass. 2 lltxattitvrt, I aor. pass. Jesus, and toward all the saints.' This passage contains four parts: --1. Hearing of thy love. 2. Hearing of thy faith. 3. Which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus. 4. Which thou hast toward all the saints. Of these four parts the first and fourth accord, and the second and third, thus: --Hearing of thy love which thou hast toward all the saints. Hearing of thy faith which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus. In Col. i. 4, the same sentiments are put in their natural order, without the use of the figure hyperbaton: --Having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus.
