Description

So, you have a sense of humor, but do you have a sense of irony? A sense of humor is an ability to appreciate and laugh at playfulness, whimsy, lightheartedness, and wit. When we have a sense of humor, we see the fun in life in a lighthearted, easy manner. Humor allows us to laugh and feel good. A sense of irony is similar, but different. What is irony? Humor is obvious; irony isn't. Irony requires seeing beyond the obvious, beyond the appearance. Irony is what we call life's little jokes that are played on us. But only those with a sense of irony see them. Sometimes, we say things we don't mean, to express what we do mean. Sometimes we use irony to dramatize an event, or for other unknown reasons. THE IRONY EFFECT is a fast, fun and interesting read. Open the book and start reading, to find out if you have a sense of irony. Your sense of humor will thank you for it. And you may even find out where irony is hiding in your life.show more

About Barbara Middleton

BARBARA MIDDLETON was born curious and thanks to that, continues to lead an interesting and varied life. For her ninth birthday, she received the gift of a typewriter from her professional photographer uncle who also taught her how to use a camera. She used the typerwriter to write a play for her fifth grade class, which the school published in their monthly periodical. It was the start of a long and rewarding relationship with the written word. Writing and photography are a core part of her life. For a number of years, Barbara worked as a writer and editor for business publications. She wrote a syndicated column on WINR-'Women in New Roles', and acquired one of the first 'personal computers' ever offered for sale. Her knowledge of the early 'PC' opened opportunities and she moved into the field of finance. Later, she moved from New York to Florida and into real estate. With a well-honed background in computing, finance, writing, editing and photography, she became a successful broker. BARBARA continued to hone her photographic skills and wrote a newspaper column and published several articles on photography topics. Curiosity is still at the core of her being and writing and photography continue to be an anchor in her life. BARBARA was attracted to IRONY, a compelling subject. While researching it, she discovered a world of contradiction, humor and pathos. It all made for an interesting and entertaining read. THE IRONY EFFECT, is Barbara's first book. The intent is to have you enjoy reading it, while discovering the real definitions of IRONY. The bonus is you'll find out how to make a place for IRONY in your life.show more
