Some discussion followed over the advisability of securing some uniform accounting system in the ice business, especially in the states where a State Utilities Commission has control over the ice trade and where inspections and reports would be simplified by such a system of accounting and it-was proposed that a committee be appointed to look up the subject and report at the next convention. Mr. Black referred to the system outlined by the Natural Ice Association and Mr. Nickerson called attention to the work done by Mr. Bluini. the auditor of one of the largest ice companies in Ohio, who spent a number of years in studying accounting systems for ice plants and ice delivery companies and published a book two or three years ago, giving full details of systems applicable to plants of various sizes. He thought this book in connection with that issued by the Natural Ice Association would give all the information needed for a study on the subject. but possibly a committee appointed at this meeting might formulate some plan based upon the information obtainable. Motion was then made that a committee be appointed to prepare an outline for classification of accounts suitable for large plants, medium sized plants and small plants. The motion was seconded, put to vote and carried. The president appointed on said committee: Messrs. H. VV. Magruder, . G. Black and Briot. Mr. Black called attention to the agitation for municipal ice plants and in connection referred to the agitation in St. Paul, a year ago, where the ice dealers were charging $1.50 to $2.00 a month for delivery of ice to residences.
