The Immortal King
Magic has been stolen from the kingdom of Unmar. Crops are failing and the people are dying. Plants have lost their healing power and animals have lost the ability to speak. When Laynn becomes sick, she must take the dangerous road to the kingdom of Timar to find a healer. But she soon discovers that all is not as it should be in the southern kingdom. The people are ruled by the tyrant King of Timar, who has sat on the throne for forty years and has not aged a single day in all that time. The King harbours a terrible secret and lives in constant fear of its being discovered by his people. With the help of three outlaw children from Timar, Laynn must devise a plan to enter the Royal Palace and steal three keys to the high tower where a princess sits imprisoned. But the Royal Palace is a strange and perilous place, full of illusions, deceitful Magic and the King's fearsome guards, many of whom happen to be birds...
