Description

"I'll Go" is a collection of poems that delves into the gritty paradoxes of life with brave intimacy, reflecting the experiences of a peripatetic poet. With endlessly surprising lines such as, "a thumbprint in eternity" to, "An ice queen in a hula skirt," each poem offers visceral images of love and loss, society and solitude. Marabeas tackles all themes with both sensitivity and humor, describing romance at one moment as "The kiss, the bliss, / The dusky lust," and another as Prince Charming with "six too many legs." And yet often it is the author's incredible reimagining of language that grips the reader as writes of being "far away in the galaxy / Where lightning bolts away from me." This modern collection is expressed with wry insight and fierce energy. Each poem speaks for itself; as the final poem concludes, "Sometimes a little bit is a big mouthful."show more
