Jayson Hunter, investigative reporter, knew there would be trouble when he chose to go after Dr. Malcolm Sherrod for fraud. But trouble wasn't all he found. Hunter makes his living bringing down charlatans, cheats, crime bosses, and corrupt public officials. He especially enjoys exposing arrogant religious leaders who, like the rest of his usual scumbag targets, prey on the unsuspecting. He finally meets his match in the form of a beautiful and brilliant member of a West Texas religious cult. Hunter becomes the hunted. Diane Carter, with her killer smile and stunning good looks, captures his prurient interests and wins him over, pulling him deeper into her "faith community" where he discovers what he never dreamed existed, but had always hoped did. Despite the murders of his best friend and mistress, Jayson Hunter pushes on to find the truth hidden in the mesas around Cedar Spring, Texas. After surviving an attempt on his own life, Hunter recovers to find new hope and fresh incentive to radically alter his life. HUNTER might just alter your life.

About Stephen M Holt Sr

Stephen M. Holt Sr. (Steve) is an accomplished public speaker, teacher, writer and counselor having served churches, corporations and non-profit agencies in Tennessee, Connecticut, Georgia and Texas. His duties with churches included youth, singles, young professionals, pulpit, small groups, outreach, and counseling. In 1983, the Holts led a team to plant a church in the Northeast. He has conducted seminars on a variety of subjects related to marriage and family in the US, Canada and the UK. Steve and a colleague authored a popular premarriage counseling seminar that has been presented around the country. With non-profits, Steve worked as executive director, church and community relations director, and victims of abuse advocate. Every five years or so, Steve took a needed break from church and non-profit responsibilities to refocus. During those breaks, Steve owned and managed a small business, trained customer service reps for a major airline, delivered donuts, and drove a truck. Having worked with churches and non-profits for more than thirty years, Steve has seen the manipulative techniques many churches use to control and fleece their flocks. And having witnessed racism and other injustices as a child, Steve has felt a strong draw toward the plight of poor and disadvantaged people. Injustice continues to fuel his activist spirit, and he has often been at odds with people and institutions, including mainline churches, that take a more passive position on such issues. The shame of racism, social injustice, homophobia and more appear in much of his writings. Born in Kentucky, Steve holds a BA degree in journalism from the University of Memphis and an MA in religion (counseling) from Harding University. He is husband to high school math teacher, Lynn, and father to two outstanding sons. He is also a proud "Grandpa." Steve and Lynn live in Abilene, Texas and are part of a network of intentional faith communities. Hunter is Steve Holt's second in a series of fiction books intended to capture the hearts and renew the hopes of generations who have lost faith in institutional church. "Intentional: In Jesus' Name We Play" was released in early 2014.
