Description
This book combines illustrations of the human brain in various stages of dissection, revealing the surface features of the brain and the internal structures exposed in the process of dissection. For the second edition (the first edition was published by Saunders), the authors have made changes in the labelling of some illustrations and have replaced others with more pertinent examples. They have added photographic inserts to some figures in order to amplify anatomical points, and to the Weigert-stained sections in order to indicate the plane at which each was made. They have updated the text and deleted some descriptive details. Most importantly, they added an atlas of brain sections at the end of the dissection sequence that includes X-ray computerized tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imagery (MRI). This atlas consists of 62 brain sections cut in four different planes, many of which are accompanied by CT or MRI images corresponding to the same anatomical plane.
