The clouds of the World War are now lifting and each of you has been planning for the peaceful times to come and trying, as rapidly as possible, to forget the trials and restraints which have so seriously incommoded us. The struggle of readjustment to the new order of things is at hand. Each day we read or hear of the general unrest throughout the country, but history tells us that this has been the case after each great War in which our country has been involved, and we are witnesses also of the fact that the United States has stood the strain before and our stable institutions have survived and acquired a greater strength and prestige. I am sure that the same will be true this time, provided that in the general readjustment to altered conditions you pharmacists, in conjunction with other leaders in your communities, will do your duty in molding public opinion to proper standards. The almost universal misconceptions which have so long prevailed in regard to military matters in general include also the duties and career of the naval pharmacist.
