It is reported that a firm in Vienna is about to establish a business of renting motor delivery wagons by the day, week, month or year. The idea is that many business men are deterred from taking up motor delivery by the large first cost involved, and that if they have an opportunity of seeing the work that can be accomplished by a good machine they may be induced to purchase. The contest committee of the A. C. F. met on August 31 and decided on the following dates for contests for I908. Toward the end of April a commercial vehicle contest will be held over a distance approximating 2.500 miles, under rules similar to those which governed the last commercial vehicle contest. The Cup of the Press event will be held August I to IO, under conditions similar to those of 1907. The weight, type of body and the fuel consumption will be determining factors, and it is the intention to so draft the rules that alcohol may be used in the trials. The first thing a pattern maker has to consider when he starts to make a pattern is the best way to mold it, for as the pattern maker plans his pattern so the molder must mold it, and to keep the molder sweet and pleasant is part of the craft. The next thing to consider is the best way to build the pattern and core boxes so that they will not come and go in size with changes in the weather. This one fault alone will cause no end of trouble.
