Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The history of the Jews in Wales starts with the establishment of Jewish communities in South Wales in the eighteenth century CE. In the thirteenth century, shortly after Wales was conquered by Edward I of England, he issued the 1290 Edict of Expulsion expelling the Jews from England, and executed over three hundred English Jews. There is no known account of the contemporary situation in Wales and no testimony that Jews were living there at that period. Between 1290 and the formal return of the Jews in 1655, there is no official trace of Jews as such on English soil and the same is true for Wales.show more
