Non tanto per i particolari che si compiace di descrivere: le vesti di satin verde, i corsetti, le gonne arrotolate più volte, "come un ricciolo su un bigodino". Ma per il fatto che O, il giorno che Rene le infligge nuovi supplizi, mantiene una sufficiente presenza di spirito per osservare che le pantofole dell'amante sono sgualcite, bisognerà comperargliene di nuove.
