Description

Excerpt from The High Performance Computing and Communications Program: Hearing Before the Subcommittee on Basic Research of the Committee on Science, U. S. House of Representatives, One Hundred Fourth Congress, First Session, October 31, 1995 Mr. Schiff. Before turning now to the witnesses, I have to make one Observation. I suspect that certainly the people who are the witnesses are accustomed to this, but for anyone in the room who does not have happened to have seen a congressional hearing be fore, there will be some comings and goings by the members. I have to Offer a couple of amendments in the Judiciary Committee some time this morning ou a bill that is being marked up, and other members have similar other commitments because a number of things go on at the same time. I just want to stress that the importance of any hearing is the record that is being made by the court reporter, and that in due course all Members of the House of Representatives will have made available to them the entire contents of this hearing, and that is what is most important about a hearing.
