A greater rogue, convinced are we, Ne'er tossed was by a wave. Nor stop this epitaph will here, And truth's invectives spare; We're sure a greater villain ne'er Yet breathed the liquid air. Base envy closed his wrinkled years, Although he wealth p;ssessed; ' And that he spurned the widow's tears Must truly be confessed. The orphan's cry could rouse him not To sympathise with grief-A sordid liar and a sot, Ne'er known to give relief. Oft females young, it may be told. Fell victims to his flame; Through pimps he bribed with tempting gold For to decoy the same. He sneered at all from home who flee For succour in distress; Nor the benighted traveller he One night did e'er caress. 'TWas at the midnight hour his plan To ruin and betray; For yon bright sun that cheereth can Threw barriers in his way. ' Smiled when he found beneath his thong Defenceless man to cringe; Where he sustained the slightest wrong, Still prone was for revenge.
