Herbert Nickal "Bert" Haresnape (2 July 1880-1962) was an English backstroke swimmer from West Derby, who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics and 1912 Summer Olympics. In the 1908 Olympics he won a bronze medal in 100 metre backstroke. Four years later at Stockholm he reached to the semifinals in 100 metre backstroke. The backstroke, also sometimes called the back crawl, is one of the four swimming styles regulated by FINA, and the only regulated style swum on the back.show more
