Review Text

The portentous but oddly compelling tale of the sudden appearance on earth's surface of a tribe of pyrotechnical subterranean cockroaches. Named parmitera after their discoverer - a disturbingly uncliched mad scientist - the beasties have an unfortunate propensity for setting fire to anything in their path. There's a substantial amount of disconcerting but apparently sound entymology and enough character to keep you reading however much you may be bugged by the cockroaches. (Kirkus Reviews)show more
