Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Heinz Zemanek is an Austrian computer pioneer, known primarily for building the first computer working entirely on transistors on the European mainland, called Mail fterl, in 1955. The name is a word play on Whirlwind, a famous computer developed at MIT between 1945 and 1951. In 1954, he supervised a thesis, in the course of which the LRR1 was developed, probably the only logical machine ever built in Austria. He was active in the Scouting movement most of his life.
