Let us see what more is passing there, for time is pre-cious. I presently perceived six angels, who presented two pigeons to the Lord, and Iremarked that they were the two pigeons I had seen before, one of which was crowned. The Lord touched them, and at that moment I heard the same words: The peace of God be with you. Immediately afterwards there were eight angels near the Lord, instead of six, among the number of whom I distinguished my father and my mother, who was younger and handsomer than I had ever seen her while she lived uipon the earth. At that moment the thrones, which were facing that of the Lord, were occupied by seventy-one crowned persons. The one at the extremity of the last line, behind which I stood with the Angel, had remained vacant. Struck by this circumstance, I begged the angel to inform me why that throne was not occupied. ' It is (she explained to me), because he to whom it belongs was not yet arrived, to take possession of it. Now he is come, and thou art about to know directly how the true martyrs of the earth are rewarded in the inheritance of the Lord. Nevertheless, I caution thee, thou art not here to question me: thou hast only been brought here to see and to bear testimony to many others of what thou wilt have seen. I then heard words which proceeded from the mouth of the Lord, and in a language I did not understand, as Ihave observed already.
