The two are correlated to each other. A sound mind in a sound body, ought to give the best results. Our friend, Dr. Sargent, has made a close study of this subject; he aims to develop all parts of the physical organism symmetrically; if one part is deficient, he endeavors to stimulate it to action; so that there will be increased nutrition in that part, and also additional growth. His idea is to make every part perform its normal function; all of which is correct. The several organs of the human body ought to be equals as respects their race in life; that is to say, each part should have an-equal chance with the others. When Dr. Sargent's idea comes to be fully carried out, neither the hand nor the foot will be out of proportion to the rest of the vital structure. The limbs will be well formed, and in good proportion, and the trunk the same. The waist will be neither too large nor too small; and both shoulders and hips will be in correspondence with the other parts of the body. Blessed consummation! and most devoutly to be sought. It is an excellent thing to see young men growing up with finely developed bodies; every part in good proportion, and all the organs capable of performing their natural functions. But what about the young women? Shall not they, too, aspire to this development; this symmetry of their bodies? Is it of less importance that they, the future mothers of the race, the natural conservators of mankind, should have the very best that Nature can give them?
