Hannelore Kraft is a German politician and Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia. Kraft is the first woman to fill this post since it was created in 1946. She is also the leader of the SPD in Northrhine-Westphalia. She has served on the SPD's federal executive since November 2009, and is one of the four federal deputy chairmen. On 1 November 2010 she took over the presidency of the German Bundesrat from Jens B hrnsen. She is the first female office holder.Kraft graduated in 1980, and first trained as a bank clerk.
