The starting point of this manual uses an approach from the field of political science that analyzes political thought using resources from the humanities and social sciences. Making use of the most important political philosophers and theorists, as well as of selected state practitioners, the articles address all facets of political thought. Philosophical, theological, legal, historical, political, and sociological viewpoints are utilized. An epoch-specific classification is not provided, but rather political thinkers are discussed in alphabetical order to facilitate comparisons across all ages, cultures, and orientations. All individual contributions follow a consistent organizational principle. The volume is written for students, academics, and journalists, as well as for a generally interested public. The manual is intended primarily as a reference, but can also be used as a political science textbook, and provides a comprehensive overview of disciplinary areas. German text.
