This station is home to one of the three Central Line depots. The station was opened on 1 May 1903 as part of the Great Eastern Railway's Woodford to Ilford "loop" or branch line. This line designed to stimulate suburban growth was closed due to a lack of custom on 1 October 1908 and did not reopen until 2 March 1930.show more
