About Josh Byrne

Josh Byrne is an environmental scientist with a passion for green gardening. He believes that many of the pressing environmental challenges that confront our cities and towns can be tackled by gardeners if they are given the opportunity and the means. Water shortages, nutrient pollution, organic waste management, urban biodiversity and clean food production are all issues that fall well and truly into the realm of gardeners. Josh is the Western Australian presenter on ABC TV's Gardening Australia program and also writes for several leading gardening magazines. In between filming and garden writing, he is working on a PhD exploring the concept of 'sustainable urban landscapes'. Josh also teaches, as well as doing environmental and horticultural consultancy work in the areas of permaculture, water conservation and appropriate technologies for sustainable settlements.
