It opened in 1879 and closed to regular traffic in 1953. Great Dalby is a small village 3 miles south of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.It has a population of between 300-400 and the parish church of St. Swithun was built during the 14th century. It is referred to in some UK census records as Dalby Magna.
