Description

As a student at Temple University, Laura C. Chase finds the subject of spirituality and its manifestations endlessly fascinating. She begins to explore alternative religions but soon experiences a terrifying vision of a fellow classmate-a woman who is murdered that same night and whose killer is never found. Reeling from the experience, Chase agrees to go with a friend's mother to a Hindu ashram outside of the city. There, in the countryside, she meets Yogi Amrit Desai, learns to teach Kripalu yoga, and lives under the teaching of kundalini master Swami Kripalvandaji. During these years of yoga practice, vegetarianism, and celibacy, Chase experiences profound healing. Under the teaching of the swami, love and kindness flood into her life and she finds the strength to look repressed memories of abuse squarely in the eye-and to forgive. Chase eventually leaves the Kripalu community and proceeds with her life, marrying and giving birth to two children. Deep down, though, she continues to yearn for something more. She ultimately moves to Cassadaga, Florida: the self-touted mediumship capital of the world. There, she discovers latent abilities within herself that change her life forever.show more
