Dark grey granite similar to Rubislaw is very much used in Russia. Stockholm ianother city in which granite is much used, not only as an architectural embellishment, but in a purely struc tural sense. THE BASSETT WHEEL. not wear even, the cover can be wedged to make 't wear on the higii side. When the cutting part of this wheel is worn out, the cover can be taken off and a new body ordered at the regular price, which is 7 cents a pound on board cars. It is claimed for these machines that work taken by the polishers from the point, grinding three-eighths to one-half off a surface, will grind ten feet an hour on an average. They have ground twenty feet an hour, but will not average this. Concerning the life of the wheel, a record was recently made of a 40-inch wheel. It has polished 2,450 feet amis yet in fair condition. It is expected to do several hundred feet more of polishing before it is worn out. Vermont.
