How will you undo the mischief you have done them? Some of the number will probably be gone to eternity, and you will then be able to do no more than weep for them tears of unavailing anguish. But, if living, they will probably be among the many who, after spending their youth as you and they are now doing, remain impenitent through life; and should you hereafter even go and tell them of your repentance, in order to counteract the evil you have done in their case, it will probably be only to meet with their derision. You will find yourself too late; and instead of your leading them, your conversion will separate you from them. Oh, if you had but undertaken this when you and they were young, how different might have been the result! Beginning a life of piety now, others might, and probably would, be led by your example to "remember their Creator " also "in the days of their youth." Perhaps many would. How great, oftentimes, the influence of one young friend over another! Tour brothers--your sisters--your schoolmates and companions--can you tell how many of them might be made Christians, through your Heavenly Father's blessing upon your prayers, your pious words, your conscientious and holy example? Your becoming a Christian may, of itself, powerfully impress their minds. Nothing speaks to a youthful and warm heart like the conversion and public profession of a young friend. The feelings of your companions, like your own, are now tender and susceptible. It will not be so always.
