Excerpt: ...we protest against any reduction thereof as injuroius to the interests of all glove workers, and be it further Resolved, That a copy of these lresolutions be forwarded to the Ways and Means Committee and to our representatives in congress. In addressing the Committee on Ways and Means of which Congressman Underwood is chairman, the Executive Board wrote as follows: We enclose a copy of resolutions passed by the Glove Workers Union of Fulton County, N. Y., and assure you that the facts set forth therein are absolutely correct and will stand any test. Reductions of the present tariff rates would be of very doubtful value to the retail purchaser and would most probably mainly benefit the retail merchant, so that no public good would be attained, while an injury would be inflicted upon the glove workers. The tariff rates on ladies gloves, as mentioned in the resolutions, are really too low at present, which is proved beyond dispute by the large importations of fine gloves and small local production as shown by statistics. We hope therefore to-be able to enlist your sympathy and influence in our behalf and await with great anxiety the outcome. Assuring you that this is not a question with us of party politics or inspired by any manufacturers' interests but solely our own, and thanking you in advance for any help you may kindly render us, we remain, Respectfully yours, Executive Committee, Glove Workers Union Local N o. 47, Fulton County, N.
