"What type of mission work are you going to be doing on this thing called The World Race?" This is the question that I got a lot when I told people that I needed to raise $14,250.00 to go on an 11 month long missions trip to 11 different countries. I honestly had no clue how to respond and could only tell them about things that other World Racers have done in the past. My typical response was: "We could be loving on children at orphanages, or serving food to the hungry, or talking to women and children who have been caught up in human trafficking, or construction work." Never had I thought that I would be going to visit widows and having conversations with them, or that I would visit a woman who was in her upper twenties that appeared to have 6 children and one on the way who were all under the age of 7 or 8 maybe and I would help her do her dishes... The first World Race squads launched from Mexico in January 2006. Literally knocking on doors and sleeping on streets, it was a raw adventure of faith. While in Swaziland in 2007, the Lord told Seth Barnes to structure the World Race for a movement and to give it away to our generation. The World Race continues to change. It is expanding overseas and in the States, yet its foundations stay the same. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve "the least of these" while amongst real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering into the abundant life He promised. It births partnerships with ministries around the world. It requires Luke 10-like faith. We're calling you out of your comfort zone and giving you exposure to what God is doing in the world before you commit to the American dream. Because it's not about you, it's about the Kingdom.
