About Dennis Lehane

Dennis Lehane grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston's inner-city. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked as a counsellor with mentally handicapped and abused children, waited tables, parked cars, drove limos, worked in bookstores, and loaded tractor-trailers. His one regret is that no one ever gave him a chance to tend bar. He has an MFA from Florida International University, and is the writer-in-residence at Eckerd College in St Petersburg, Florida, where he runs the Writers in Paradise Writers' Conference. As a dennis lehane devotee I\'m biased but this is a fantastic read. For a door stop book its hard to put down. The characters and storyline are great too. lehane really outdid himself with this one. Buy It!show more

If you already know Lehane's thrillers you'll be surprised. I did not think he could write such a compelling, deep and moving book. The characters are real, the change and grow and it is difficult to forget them. You discover a different America - at least for me, who am Italian. And even if a lot of things are wrong you wish you were born there and participate in building a great country.show more
