Girl on the High-Diving Horse
It's the summer of 1936, and Ivy Cordelia feels like the luckiest girl in the world. She and her photographer papa are staying in a hotel in Atlantic City all summer long! Ivy loves all of Atlantic City's many attractions, from the beach to the boxing kangaroos to the human cannonballs. Best of all, Ivy loves the high-diving horses. Every day, Ivy goes to the Steel Pier and watches the glamorous girls who bravely plunge on horseback from a tall platform and splash into a pool below. Ivy dreams of being the girl on the high-diving horse. But could she ever be that brave?
