Sydney's shame: Up to 80 men murdered, 30 cases remain unsolved. From 1977 to the end of 1986 Ducan McNab was a member of the NSW Police Force. Most of his service was in criminal investigation, working on major frauds, crimes against children, homicide, armed robbery and finally corruption within the organisation. The one issue that still troubles him more than any other has been the unsolved death or disappearance of so many young gay men. He believes now is the time to address that issue. In the decade from 1985 to 1995 around fifty gay men were murdered in 'hate crimes' in Sydney. At least thirty of those cases are unsolved.
