About Melissa Marie Casses

Melissa Casses is a 16 year educator, yoga teacher, and early intervention specialist dedicated to ensuring that every child learn to find their best self, at all abilities and developmental levels. Through the study of psychology and theatre at the University of Pittsburgh and California State University at Long Beach, Melissa became passionate about the well-being of children and their development. Her studies and work with autism spectrum disorders moved her through a branch of Lovvas Institute at UCLA to a relationship-based training with the Connections Center in Houston, Texas. Melissa completed a Master's of Science program in Rehabilitation Counseling at West Virginia University. Currently, Melissa is completing a Doctoral Degree in Curriculum & Instruction through the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While serving children and their families Melissa began working specifically in coaching families and teachers to remain healthy contributors to their children's' progress. Melissa has worked with educators, head start organizations, center-based, and home visitors training the pyramid model and the importance of supportive and nurturing environments through the Center for Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) & Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Intervention (TACSEI). Melissa Casses served as a Master Cadre member for the state of West Virginia in their implementation of social-emotional interventions for early intervention home visitors, center-based preschool programs, and k-6 classroom teachers. Her work has also included training early intervention providers and public school teachers using positive behavior supports and relationship development intervention for children with autism. Her focus includes creating an atmosphere for education to facilitate not only the progression of the standards of learning but also the healthy development of adaptive skills meant to progress the emotional well-being of a society.show more
