Their union was blessed with four children namely: John H.. bom February 5. 1S77: Emma H.. bom December 23, 1SS0; Jacob H.. born November 4, 1SSS; Mary H.. bor n May 15, 1S94. L1zz1e B. Hess, second daughter of John H. and Elizabeth (Brubaker) Hess, of the seventh generation, was born July 5, 1S65, married Oct. 1S, 1SS7, to David L., son of Deacon David and Elizabeth (Landis) Leaman, He was born February 26. 1S61. They are residing north of Neftsville, at his father's old home place. Their union was blessed with three children, namely: Sanford H., bor n February 6, 1SS9; Anna H., born August 21, 1S91; John H., born July 31, 1S94, died January 12, 1S95, aged 5 months and 12 days. Sem H. Hess, the fourth son of Henry and Catharine, Huber) Hess, of the sixth generation, was born November 19. 1S30. His wife Fanny, daughter of Benjamin Landis. near Oregon, Manheim Tip., was born August 26, 1S33. They were married September 13, 1S53, and resided at the Willowbank Mill in Elizabeth Twp., where he died December 10. 1S71, at the age of 41 years and 21 days. Interred in the graveyard at Hess' meeting house. He was the father of three sons and five daughters, named as follows: Annie L.. married Henry L. Brubaker, see page 129; Maria L. married Timothy Purvis, see page 130; Henry L.. see page 129; Susan L., married Benj. F. Hostetter, see page 130; Fanny L., born March 26, 1S61. She is unmarried and residing with her mother at Oregon; Catharine L., third daughter was born Sept. 12. 1S5S, died aged S months and 10 days; Infant son, born and died January 2S, 1S63; Infant son, born and died March 1, 1S69.
