The Resident at Gwalior to the Agent to the Governor-General in Bundelcund. Sir, Camp, Dholepore, October 21, 1843. WITH reference to my letter to your address of the 14th instant, I beg leave to acquaint you, that I again spoke to the Durbar vakeel in regard to the reports of the disturbed state of Chanderee, and the plunderers who received an asylum there. 2. He informed me, in reply, that Colonel Baptiste Felose had been called to an account on that subject, who replied, that no such information had reached him, and that he had written to Captain Harrington for an explanation of such reports. 3. I recommended that a British officer, with a party of troops, should be sent there, to seize the offenders; and that Captain Harrington should be directed to afford him every aid, as regarded information and troops. He said that there would be no objection to an officer being sent there, and that every assistance would be afforded to him by the local authorities; but that they would wish two companies from the contingent being employed in such a duty, as belonging to the army of the Gwalior Government, in preference to such a detachment being sent from Nowgong or Jhansi.....I have, &c, ALEX.
