But, modern democratic states are shown at par with the totalitarian regimes in modern world, in the matter of the common 'fuel' both parties use in governance, ie. POWER ! Hence, while the openly declared 'closed' regimes such as that of the communists, autocrats and Kings suppress freedom and liberty openly, democratic regimes pretend to be 'free' and open, but at the citizens real 'experience' level, there is not much difference between his level of freedom with that of his counterpart at the other-side of the wall !
