Francis Michael Forde was an Australian politician and the 15 Prime Minister of Australia. He was the shortest serving Prime Minister in Australia's history, being in office for only seven days. Forde was born at Mitchell, Queensland, and was the second of six children of Irish immigrant parents. His father was working as a grazier at the time of his birth, and Forde was educated at St. Mary's College, Toowoomba, a Catholic school, and became a teacher. In 1922 he resigned and was elected to the Australian House of Representatives for Capricornia
