About William P. Fisher

William P Fisher, Ph.D. is the Darden Eminent Scholar in Restaurant Management at the Rosen School of Hospitality Management. Prior to joining the Rosen School, Dr. Fisher was the president and chief executive officer of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). He also served as the chief staff officer of the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and was the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration for Service Systems Corporation. Dr. Fisher holds three degrees from Cornell University: a bachelor of science from the School of Hotel Administration; an MBA; and a doctorate in educational administration. His academic credentials include serving as assistant professor at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, where he taught accounting, finance, and general management courses. Concurrent with his teaching responsibilities at Cornell, Dr. Fisher served as a hospitality industry consultant for Gaurnier Associates, a consulting firm serving the hotel and restaurant industries. Dr. Fisher authored Fisher's Laws: The Thinker's Guide to Management Action, and has edited other books related to the hospitality industry. He was recognized with the Champion of Education Award by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (CHRIE) in 1996, and received a Diplomate Award in 1998 from the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation. Christopher C. Muller, Ph.D. Christopher Muller is a leading academic expert in the field of chain restaurant management. His research has focused on multi-unit restaurant brand management; chain restaurant organization development and growth; and the training of multiunit managers. Dr. Muller has lectured on these topics to a variety of individuals throughout the world, including presentations to groups from Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, Central America, and Mexico. He is currently an associate professor in the Rosen School of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida, where he is the Interim Director for the newly created Center for Multi-Unit Restaurant Management. Dr. Muller has had extensive experience in the hospitality service business. He has owned and operated restaurants and small hotels throughout New England; has worked in the international wine import and sales industry; and has served as a consultant to local, national, and international restaurant, beverage, and hospitality management companies. He has also served as an expert witness in a number of precedent-setting legal cases on topics ranging from restaurant trade dress and intellectual property, franchisee rights, and negligence issues. Dr. Muller received both his doctorate and master's degrees from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. His writings have been published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management, the Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, FIU Hospitality Review, Foodservice Europe, and the Hospitality and Tourism Educator.show more
