Excerpt from Four-Star Scripts: Actual Shooting Scripts and How They Are Written
Little effort has been made to study the motion picture script as a form of contemporary writing. High schools and colleges offer courses in journalism, the drama, the novel, the short story, and a few in writing for the radio. Generally speaking, the motion picture script has been ignored, although its importance as a modern form of expression has greatly increased from year to year.
The time is probably approaching when script writing will be taught in the educational institutions of the country, just as other evolving literary forms have received attention. The motion pic ture is here to stay, and young people will learn the language of the screen just as they copy the dress and the foibles of their screen idols.
