About Michael Paidoussis

Dr. Michael P. Paidoussis, Editor of the Journal of Fluids and Structures (Academic Press), is the winner of the ASME International 1999 Fluids Engineering Award. The Fluids Engineering Award is the most prestigious award conferred by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) upon an individual for outstanding contributions made over a period of years to the fluids engineering profession through research, practice and/or teaching. Dr Paidoussis received his award at an Honors and Awards Luncheon held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco, California.Dr Paidoussis was educated in the Greek Schools of Egypt, McGill University, and the University of Cambridge and holds a B.Eng. in Mechanical Sciences and a Ph.D. in Engineering. He has been Overseas Fellow at General Electric Company in Britain and Research Officer at Atomic Energy of Canada, Ltd. He currently holds the Thomas Workman Chair in Engineering at McGill University.Previously, Dr Paidoussis received the George Stephenson Prize from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Canadian Congress of Applied Mechanics Prize. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the American Academy of Mechanics and the Royal Society of Canada (Academy of Sciences). He is also a member of the International Association for Hydraulic Research. Dr Paidoussis has been the Editor of the Journal of Fluids and Structures since 1986.
