State Road 553 is an about 4 mile-long, north-south highway in Plant City, Florida. Connecting U.S. Route 92 and Interstate 4. State Road 553 originally appeared along the north-south section of, what is now, Liberty County Road 2224, in eastern Liberty County. SR-553's southern terminus is at Florida State Road 39 south of what is considered to be downtown Plant City where the road heads due east then curves to the north. The next major intersection is U.S. Route 92 to the east of downtown Plant City the roads main intention to connect northeast Plant City to Interstate 4 is fulfilled when the road heads due north to intersect I-4 where the roadway continues north as North Park Road. SR-553 never leaves the city limits of Plant City and is also known under the name of Park Road and is a 2-lane divided highway south of US-92 and a 3-lane divided highway north of US-92 all the way to Interstate 4.
