Fever Dreams and Tragedy : Four Stories
Part fairy-tale, part sci-fi novella, part hardboiled thriller, "Fever Dreams and Tragedy" takes place in a stark, grungy future, low on resources and lower on scruples. In this bleak vision of our solar system, four different characters scattered throughout the cold planets grapple with their own, lethal dilemmas. A corrupt cop wakes from a coma to find his home city razed and nearly devoid of life. A sadistic day-laborer discovers a cache of priceless volcanic glass buried deep in the heart of a mining planet, guarded by vicious cannibals. An ex-gang banger becomes obsessed with an exotic dancer, and vows to win her heart, no matter the cost. A despondent spaceship captain comes across a suicidal scientist, floating alone in an asteroid belt. In each case, these grim, introspective stories shed light on some part of the human condition, which, despite the changing times, has remained very much the same. Thrilling and perceptive, "Fever Dreams and Tragedy" is both an enjoyable introduction for the sci-fi neophyte, as well as an enjoyable addition to the library of any speculative-fiction connoisseur.

About Riley Stephen Meachem
Riley Meachem is a crazy person, who is so crazy he actually appears somewhat sane. You know, like a negative times a negative sort of thing? Anyways, after escaping every mental institute they tried to put him in, he started writing a few books, a couple of which are pretty cool. He now lives out in the wilderness somewhere, where he eats tree bark and doesn't get good reception.
