Review Text

Songwriter Amos McCracken, his wife Lila, and their six-year-old Jessica (she's still six) appeared a few years ago in The Thing of his when their marriage was coming apart as it has now. So frankly is Amos who is not producing and is "living in the crunch," whatever that is, all "vised." Now on this day which he spends with Jessica there are all kinds of impromptu incidents some of which fuse with the fantasies in his semi-sick head: he takes Jessica to the park where she falls off a swing; he takes her lo the hospital where her face is sewn up; and he's about to take her to Florida when. . . . The thing of it is that what was once articulate is now only talky and certainly all of it is overcommunicated. (Kirkus Reviews)show more
