Not illustrated. 1915 edition. Excerpt: ...It can be so-arranged that engine can be transported to the mill and belted to it, or a line shaft or belt drive can be extended from where the engine is used for other purposes into grinding room or granary. Or the engine can be direct connected to mill if there is a sufficient quantity of grinding to warrant the use of a small engine exclusively for this purpose. The most satisfactory way, as a rule, to determine the size of pulleys and other details of power application is to take the matter up with the manufacturers of mill, advising them how much power you have, what kind of power, the diameter of driving pulley and speed at which it runs, etc., and asking them to recommend the installation that will give best results with their partic'ular machine. This, however, can be figured out for yourself by reference ' to chapters on " Shafting, Pulleys, and Bearings," " Belting," and " Power House Construction." The use of a power feed grinder greatly facilitates the feeding of balanced rations, in which connection the following table of relative value of feed contents in one of the government agricultural bulletins will be found useful. 1 Number of Analysis Cowpea..................
