Description
"FDR - Saving a Generation: The Three C's," is a mixture of fact and fiction (faction) based on Lawrence E. Rapson's three tours of duty in Northern Michigan's Civilian Conservation Corps. Eleanor Roosevelt stated that the Civilian Conservation Corps "saved a generation of young men." For only one dollar a day, the men of The Civilian Conservation Corps planted millions of trees; cleared swamplands, built fire roads, dug drainage ditches, stocked fish in rivers and streams, and did many other difficult jobs to prevent erosion and provide a better environment for their generation and for future generations. The boys came into the Civilian Conservation Corps as starving waifs and left as strong, healthy, independent men. Our children's children will live in a better world because of the environmental impact made by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
