Yule's book on explaining English grammar is a comprehensive guide to some of the most common grammar encountered by students studying English as a second language. This book provides a very clear description of each item and goes into enough depth to leave the teacher confident to answer almost any question asked by students. I found that it goes into more detail than a lot of other similar books. While it is very good for the grammar covered, there are still some areas of grammar that are missing - however I'm sure this is simply due to space limitations. The book does include some practical ideas for teaching students, but I found it more useful for giving the teacher an understanding of the grammar, which the teacher can then use to create her own lessons using the knowledge.show more
